Hi Creamy Goodness,
Thanks for your reply. I followed your suggestion and removed the proxy and guess it worked. Now i can see the catalogues getting updated, i used the below settings:
Profile name: VMC
Homepage URL: www
Security: Non-secure
Bearer: GPRS
IP address: <blank>
Username: ______
Password:< blank> ______
APN: www
By the way, all i can see in the extras repository only 1 app after updating it and that is Warmux or something, is there only 1 app in extras repository? Should i use the apt-get update before using any repository or so? Thanks again.

Delete all the previous repositories in the App man and reboot and try the links again.
Also try the wifi and another possibility is that the sites are blocked in ur country temporarily. Check it out with ur friends with n900

Now, coming to my problem, I am using a n900 with vodafone connection. Previously, I was not able to browse or surf internet at all on the n900, so i read somewhere and used manual settings which are as follows:
Connection name: Vodafone Live!
Connection type: Packet DAta (which is default)
on clicking on next
Access Point name: portalnmms
User name: blank
Password: blank
next, then clicked on advanced
Proxy: Enabled
Proxy Address: 10.10.1.100 (in all > http, https, ftp, rtsp)
Port number: 9401 (only in first port number)
then on ip addresses - ticked auto retrieve and also ticked auto retrieved dns
So after using the above manual settings i was atleast able to browse/surf internet on the n900 default browser. I also installed the latest beta version of firefox (downloaded its deb file and installed it) and even on this browser i can surf internet without any issues.
Now the main problem starts here, I read that we have to install all extras repository on n900 so that we can install all software packages, games and any more thing. So I downloaded the extras.install, extras-devel.install and extras-testing.install and added it in the app manager. But after adding it, the catalogue automatically starts updating itself and then finally i get the error message which is listed below:
Also, i downlaoded and installed the rootsh_1.5_armel.deb amd used the sudo gainroot command to take control. But when i try to update here with the command apt-get update, even then i get the connection timed out problem. I will copy the log files of apt.get after sometime, but before that please help me with above problem. Thank you in advance for your replies.
Regards
Dinsh
