When I ran into this situation, I followed the tutorials here on talk.maemo.org to clone everything to my sd card, and now I boot from that. My internal flash is there for backup in case something goes wrong with booting from the sd card.

I have an n800 with os2008 and my Device memory is 256M
and I can't install more application on my machine so if anyone knows how to increase my Device memory with internal memory with out formatting, like lvm.
