Hello, there're dozens of "can't play" topics here, I know. Tried to find something related with my situation to keep forum clean but my situation kinda different.

I wanted : to watch a movie with subtitles (which is *.avi)

What I have done : Tried to open my movie with media player, but it said, Codec not supported. So, I thought I need to install codecs on N900.

What I installed : Extra decoders support and subtitles support from repositories.

* After installation of these two, tried to open my movie with media player but same warning show up, codec not supported.

* So checked other two videos on N900, which are came with it, "default videos" (the one N900 being produced by lights and the other one). The 5 dots same with boot screen show up, like it tries to do something but I notice it was unable to do it as time passes, waited about 20 seconds ( ) but nothing happened... Playing those "easy" ones shouldn't be that much problem.

* Then I installed KMPlayer and Mplayer. Choose Mplayer in KMPlayer, and tried it, my movie starts, but it throws me up to KMPlayer menu after a few seconds. Same thing happens with default videos.

* Wanted to start from beginning, uninstalled extra decoders support, subtitles support and tried it again : same result (rebooting before everytime I try again.). Uninstalled KMPlayer and Mplayer, no luck again.

What I think : Obviously something wrong with my N900, may be if something like "basic" codecs exist, they could be the problem.

What should I do now?

Reflashed my N900 about a week ago, everything is OK so far, except this video issue.

Sorry if double post, I couldn't find any if it is posted here before.

more info about my movie that I wanted to watch (although I don't think problem is the movie) :

ViDEO......[ 812 kbps XviD 25.000 FPS ]
Q. FRAME...[ 0.175 bits*pixel ]
RESOLUTiON.[ 668 x 278 ]

Yeah, checked it, it is fine.

I remember now, while uninstalling there was an **UNKNOWN** text which is next to one package name, it was something like mawf-gst-*****

mafw-gst- should be related to the mediaplayer

You could check in fapman Fast Application Manager: There are some icons in the lower right corner, the one with 'C' seperates the packages in categories. Scroll down the categories to find the 'Advanced' -mode. Search for mafw-gst and figure out what might be missing.

mafw-gst-renderer is installed here on my device, there is also mafw-gst-subtitles-renderer

This version is working fine here. Please to be sure try also
Code:
apt-cache policy libsndfile1
You might try to reinstall the mediaplayer
Code:
apt-get install --reinstall mediaplayer

If I try to play it on SIB, it plays about 10 seconds and goes up to here, not even to the SIB menu
