Hi!
I think, there are too few libraries in the extras and extras-testing
repositories. That makes porting applications much harder.
Dependency libraries must be uploaded to extras-devel and every
lib has to be promoted. To get applications which depend on many libs
promoted, is nearly impossible.
What can we do to get more into the extras repo, instead of promoting
every singe lib?

Unfortunately the answer is: make a list of libraries and vote, then nag everyone here to test and vote.

At least such dependencies are allowed here, enjoy it will you can.

I could be wrong, but I thought that when an application package is promoted to extras its dependencies will get promoted as well?

I don't know, if a.promoted application take its dependencies
with it.
That could make it more easy.

If a package gets promoted, ALL of its dependencies are promoted too, automatically.
This is how Extras works right now.

If a package gets promoted all dependencies are promoted too indeed. That's because a package can't be promoted to extras if one or more of it's dependencies can't be promoted to extras. Confusing eh? Just take for example SMS-Con. It's stable as it is but it can't be pushed to extras because of it's dependencies on qt.

According to the package info smscon has been in extras since mid-January, only one month after it went into extras-testing. It also doesn't appear to have any dependencies on Qt.

smscon-editor, which does have (via python) dependencies on Qt, was also promoted to extras at the same time.
