Maybe use Google Latitude and Buzz from the repositories; which you can configure to update your location at pre-defined intervals on Google Latitude (probably the easiest option, especially if the others use latitude as well)
There is an ongoing thread here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=26630
no i am not stalking my girlfriend or anything like that (i wont let her touch it pecause it's my phone she tends to mess up everything she touches phone, pc, tv... she isn't just good with electronics ) but since i have to drive around with a snowmobile on frozen sea and sometimes with no visibility whatsoever so my fellow safari-guides can check my position if something happens or my n900 gets stolen or lost.
it would be great for stalking your teenage kids though, but my first child is only 1,5 years old so i wont be needing to stalk her either
EDiT: I tried to search forum for similar posts without succes.
