I use "wizard mounter" to mount a PC drive onto my N900. The N900 media player then has access to approx 160Gb of music. The PC runs ubuntu linux but uses windows file sharing component "samba", so I don't see why this wouldn't work to a windows PC either.

It's UPnP tecnology. I guess you have Win7 installed, that's why you see those profiles in mediaplayer. On your pc, check the advanced sharing settings and use the share of multimedia streams.

How does this work on Ubuntu/Mint 10? I'm using Mint 10 atm. When I am using my W7 I get only 2 video clips out of my 60+? How does my N900 recognize Mint and W7?
