Hi,

I've just change my wireless broadband router for a Thomson TG585.

If I connect my N900 to this wifi access point, it freeze.
Same issue with WPA, WPA2, WEP encryptions.
No problems with all other computers (GNU/Linux), and Android.
I don't know if it is a router or a N900 issue…
I'm using power kernel v46

Is there someone with this configuration in the "assistance" ?

Thanks…

I think it is not a N900 issue but a Thomson one. It's not a good modem-router wifi.

I have been using a speedtouch 585v6 with wpa enabled and never had a problem with it. My router is currently running firmware version 8.2.7.7 but it was running version 7.xx for about 6 months before that. Both worked ok with my n900

I use a Thomson 780 and had problems with Auto Channel select and the N900. I have set it to channel 1 fixed and WPA2 PSK AES and now it works fine.
I still use 6.2.29 fw because i need SNMP which Thomson removed in later fw.

@afrinc
Thomson may not be best in the router department but their DSL modems are by far the best. I get 25-30% higher sync than my ISP supplied siemens and it almost never resyncs where the siemens would do that multiple times per day.

@af7567 : My DSL modem is not a speedtouch 585v6, but thank you, I will try to find newer firmware.

@casketizer : My DSL modem is not a Thomson 780, but thank you for your feedback, I will try to fix channel.

@Schturman : I don't think it is a similar problem because for me, the router stop working for all computer. It freeze !

I've pluged another wifi access point in my network, still using this DSL modem. Connecting my N900 to this sub-wifi access point freeze the Thomson TG585 DSL…

I saw you have a different model but the 78x and 58x firmwares are built from the same codebase. 78x just adds VoIP ports and a few small other things.

I would also try to get help on the Speedtouch Forum..

Since it still freezes the router when connected to a different access point the problem is probably not with the wifi on the router but somethong else. Maybe the DHCP server on the router? You could try removing the n900 from the list of hosts the router knows about in case some data associated with it has got corrupt somehow. On my 585v6 web interface i have a "Home network" section and can see a list of computers on my network, I can delete the n900 from that to make the router forget about it. I guess your router will have a similar option

I don't use the DHCP from the Thomson router, but from the added access point ("La Fonera"). So, for the DSL router point of view, nothing have changed, just some new TCP packet…

It's realy strange…
