Which version of Abiword (where should I get it) should I install on the N800 which is reasonably stable. Are there any versions which will read/write word and odt files.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have not seen any that write to word files.

What we need is a port of Open Office.. Open office on the n800 would be great, you could even give mini presentations on the 4" screen!

Now that would be "suite"... HA HA I crack me up

Hey - I'm working on stabilizing AbiWord on N800 - (at least the first) issue is that the current version (2.4.6) is compiled against Mistral, and certain actions (like sleep, etc) have changed in Bora (ABI-incompatible) and so we need a recompile. I know that, and I'm working on it All versions of AbiWord should save to MS Doc just fine - I personally use RTF for anything I have to share, ABW for things I keep to myself. The 2.4.6 build (and the later ones I will make to fix the N800 problems) supports ODT.

BTW - As long as you don't let the tablet fall asleep or click to the right of the right-hand margin, Abi 2.4.6 Mistral is actually somewhat usable on Bora/N800 - I'm hoping those two issues, and the difficulty with word import, will work better when I recompile - esp. since I just got a bluetooth keyboard for my N800 so I want to take rich-text notes and create docs on the move. Patience is a virtue

Thanks for using AbiWord!

This sounds great! I can't wait to get a full word processor on my n800. Abiword looks great but with me it's quite unstable, especially when importing .doc or .odt.

Please keep up your great work!

@Megabyte405: your work is much appreciated and nokia should reward you because you are going to make their tablets appealing for work tasks - one thing they should have done when launching such gizmos. Since unfortunately you won't take a dime from that corporation, do remind to setup a paypal account asap, in order to get the donations that I'm sure several people (including me) will be happy to send...
Don't forget pdf output, if feasible :-)
