I started reinstalling Maemo on my N900 using Nokia software updater. But I got a call all of a sudden I got a call and had to disconnect the device. The updater was only downloading 0.5 of 200MB at the moment but now Maemo seems corrupt.

Problems faced:
  • Application Manager does not work (it says no app categories)
  • Cannot install updates or even uninstall anything
  • Media player is not functioning

I tried to restore the system but failed as the updater says a error.

I am not sure of Hard reset for me....so that can anyone help me to do it with lesser impact. Thank you.

I am gonna buy a flash card today itself to do a hard reset. Any tips you have on this would be a great relief.

Do a backup of your contacts and agenda, and flash it, I dont think the hard reset will fix it.
