You want to use ctorrent+flashlite+www.torrenteditor.com. Any other solution is pretty unusable.

It's a well known problem with Transmission for the N900. First, use a different torrent client, as suggested above. To solve your read-only problem, do the following:

1. unmount your home partition
2. fsck -a that unmounted partition
3. remount
4. presto

There must be a thousand different threads on the forum here describing this problem and it's solutions. Use search, please.

rtorrent sometimes works better than transmission, but on big files (>500mb) it also happens, though somewhat less often. Going to default values in Swappolube seems to help a bit, but it is still hit-or-miss situation. Another approach is having htop (as root) open in an xterm window and killing transmission as soon as it starts to misbehave, on subsequent starts it will sometimes run well. This is probably a statistical result as it sometimes will just work

Ehr, you're asking me what the problem is?

If your partition is read only, how would Transmission be able to write to that unwritable partition?

Like I said before, to get rid of the read only situation, you need to do the following as root

Code:
sudo gainroot
umount /home/user/MyDocs
fsck -a /dev/mmcblk0p1
mount /home/user/MyDocs
That should do the trick untill the next time you bump into this problem.
