I have OS2008 Version: 5.2008.43-7

My USB host mode is working, I am able to use usb keyboards or flashdisks connected to my N800 using female2female adaptor.

My first aim is to get USB HSDPA modem Huawei E176G working with N800 to connect to HSDPA (or edge or gprs) network for reaching internet.

Product description for the modem:
http://www.starhub.com/content/dam/s...oductSpecs.pdf

Userguide for the modem:
http://www.starhub.com/content/dam/s..._UserGuide.pdf

Modem works on win xp and win7 machines without problems. So it is not defect hardwarewise.

I have a very limited knowledge of Linux things, but I can gainroot, run emelfm2 from root, chmod, place a file in any folder in N800 and check the folders to see what is there. I have installed a linux on a desktop pc in the past and connected it to internet, connected two linux pc's with audio and video over internet in the past but I do not have a linux desktop machine at the moment. These are all my experiences with linux.

I connected to the modem to my N800 by using a powered usb hub. Then I get a blue light blinking every 3 seconds, meaning the modem is registered to the WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA network. (I get modem lights information from page 2 of userguide).

Then I want to follow the guidelines in:
http://wiki.maemo.org/USB_GPRS

Although the link above mentiones gprs, it also has "Option HSDPA Modem" in it.

So far I did the first 6 steps and did insmod sg.ko, no error messages.

Now I am in the section: "Option HSDPA Modem"
I am not able to install anything to my N800 from the link
http://scratchpost.dreamhosters.com/....2-1_armel.deb
my application manager says: "Incompatible application package".

But I downloaded the HSO package file, HSO.tar and opened the components in win machine, can transfer them to my N800 and continue from there if needed.

The first item in "Option HSDPA Modem" says "Compile the "HSO" Option Modem kernel module ..." this I do not know how to do, I read a little bit about how to compile a kernel module but did not understand how. Now what can I do? Can somebody please guide me by simple steps that I can understand with my level of knowledge, or show me to a correct path, link?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Sorry for late reply.

Here's how to compile your kernel module in scratchbox:
http://maemo.org/maemo_release_docum....x/node12.html
I don't remember exactly what I changed in config.

I got my Huawei modem working with help in this thread:

Maybe there's some help for you too.
