I have been looking for this too. I had an old version (0.2) at one point in time, and it was really nice. I cannot find that version anywhere to download it again though.

I have also tried to compile it, but have not had any luck. It would compile, but would not run. It would segfault, and I don't know enough to troubleshoot to understand what the issue was.

I am hoping that a new .deb will be available someday...

It looks like they are only building Dates for the Nokia tablets now. Odd since those app fit the PIM void perfectly and integrate with existing contact info.

I would guess they pulled Contacts specifically due to possibility of data corruption of contacts from other sources. So to provide some barrier to entry to ensure you really know what you are doing when you install alpha software and expect it to not eat your tablet, they require you to build it from source.

I really like the looks and functionality of those apps though. I hope they keep it up and develop final polished versions. In the meanwhile, the GPE versions work quite well ... they just don't integrate with existing databases on the N800/770.

The word from Pimlico is that while there is as yet no Maemo port for Pimlico Contacts but that a Contacts rewrite is on the agenda which will make such a port easier.
