I have a semi bizarre problem. My N900 ran out of juice as I was turning it on. Now it is stuck in a power up cycle, when I try to charge it, the phone tries to turn on, runs out of power and reboots. Ad infinitum ~ The answer is simple, pop in another charged battery, let it boot up, then shut it down and everything should be ok.

But there's no one that i know with an N900 nearby I ordered an external charger, but looks like it won't make it here before I fly out for my vacation on Tuesday

Soooo... Is there anyone near Hawkesbury, Ontario Canada that i can borrow their battery for about 90 seconds? I can come to you or we can meet at a neutral location ~

Take out the battery and try to charge it in another phone in which it fits. Eg. Nokia 5800. (And some guys managed to squeeze it into an N95 as well.)

Take the battery out, press the start button to release any voltage hanging around the caps then put it back in WITHOUT turning on the device and plug the wall charger in and unless you got a usb port problem the battery charge will eventually kick in and charge the battery.

"Anyone with an N900 live near me? "

Probably not. They're rare you see.
