o god i hate ppl who talk/write lik dis.. iz not like ur net provider will charge u every character u type srsly... nd dis site is not sms based.
Now onto ontopic matter, you cannot see firmware update for pr1.3 in your application manager if your device is already on pr1.3. To see if your device is pr1.3 go into Settings > About product and then look for version that begins with 20-2010-36. If you have a version that is similar to what I wrote you already am running pr1.3.
Maemo operating system is part of N900, its the stock standard OS you get and its probably one of the most easiest to deal with. There's other OS you can install on your N900 but they require more work and/or hardware on your part.
If you're talking about pr1.3 versus CSSU. PR1.3 Has all the battery management issues sorted out (that is, it will not chew as much battery as the older versions did) but CSSU adds extra refinements and features to the existing PR1.3 base. If you search up for the CSSU wiki page you will see what I'm talking about.
