Hi all,

Just wondered if Octave and Gnuplot are available on the N800 and the latest ITOS2007 firmware. I cannot install these on latest firmware but they did install on revious IOS2007 firmware.

Any help appreciated.

A.

I just successfully installed octave2.9 and gnuplot on my N800, and they seem to run quite well.

One remaining problem I can't seem to find an answer to is: gnuplot creates a window which can't be brought to the front by any hildon GUI means. So say you plot something, then switch to another app, then want to look at the plot again, it's not possible; you have to minimize all the other window.

Code:
[install]
repo_name = Arno's maemo repository
repo_deb  = deb http://www.arno-onken.de/debian/maemo mistral user
Install octave2.9 and gnuplot from that repository and you'll be off and running. It will run ok on the N800 even though it's a mistral distro, because octave2.9 has a CLI interface and gnuplot puts minimal demands on the window manager.

Does anyone know what happened to this repository?

It seems to still be offline.

I'm using OE to build for chinook-compat and have installed Octave & gnuplot; but I had to force the installs as I forgot to build one of the deps.

I thouroughly recommend you try setting up and building with OpenEmbedded, makes stuff like this so much easier.

Anyway, I'll rebuild them and stick them up somewhere once they're done.

What is probably an older version of Arno's maemo repository is at:
http://www.armin-warda.de/arno/dists.../binary-armel/
This has gnuplot 4.0.0, but only octave 2.1.
The gnuplot there works on OS2008; I haven't
yet tried the octave.
