In a nutshell; all sounds disappear every now and then, even media player claims formats are not supported. Reboot fixes this for a while, but having a phone that doesn't for example ring is pretty crippling. Can't be rebootin' all the time...
A few observations:
1) There was no libFLAC.so.8.2.0 in /usr/lib/ so I copied it over from /opt/maemo/usr/lib/ as was suggested. I couldn't help but notice that the file size is 0.
2) libsndfile1 is 1.0.20-0maemo1+0m5 which should be fine
3) I have multiple pulseaudios running, is this normal?
4) I've uninstalled and reinstalled decoders-support, to no avail.
EDIT:
Used killall pulseaudio, waited a moment, sounds are working (for now). A workaround would be to schedule a killall every...30 minutes or so, but I'm hoping for something more elegant than jury-rigging it like that.
The best thing to do is to recall what you did last before all this happened, I'm guessing it could be something to do with extra-decoders package that you may have obtained from extras-devel.
Failing that would probably result in a simpler issue of reflashing your device and seeing if the problem persists.
FYI, no its not normal to see multiple instances of pulseaudio running when your device is not playing anything. I just checked my device and I can only see one thread of pulseaudio.
3 x Nokia N900 | 2 x 32GB TopRAM microSDHC class 10 inserted in two devices | 2 x SIM cards inserted in two devices.
N900/ Nokia N900 is not a phone/smartphone! its an internet tablet with phone functionality - so quit assuming its still a phone/smartphone when it isn't!!
I've read through the following threads:
Sounds Problems.. My N900 is MUTE ...
No sound throughout the OS
