I have a Infrant ReadyNAS NV+ connected to my home network via a network switch. The device supports UPnP and streams media to both my PC as well as to a standalone media streaming device in my home, a device called the Helios X5000.

However, I am not being successful streaming to either the 770 or the N800. The default N800 media player does see the device. I can browse all folders on the UPnP enabled NAS device. However, when I try to play music or look at a photo that is stored on it I'm told that the file can't be found! I then installed 'mediastreamer' on the N800. Very nice app. Same issue. I see the UPnP device, I can browse it but when I try to play music or look at a photo I'm told the format is not supported.

If I take the same music or photos and put them on a memory card, insert it into the N800 it can read and play them just fine.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
David

I've got a d-link dns-323 (which has a built-in upnp server) and a 770. I had very similar behavior using media streamer. I could see the folders and browse through them, but I would always get the "file not found" error when I tried to play something. I discovered that twonkymedia had a version of their upnp server software ported for the dns-323, so I installed that and ever since everything has been working swimingly.

They don't seem to have an install guide for the readynas on their nas page:
http://twonkymedia.com/Download/Twon...chnicians.html

But a google search for readynas and twonky did pull up several hits, so I think it's possible to get it up and running on your box. Twonky costs $30, but they have a free 30-day trial.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the tip. I do have Twonky running from it but the N800 isn't seeing it for some reason. I'll play with that a bit more tonight since you have had better success.

Still, I'm not sure why UPnP on the Infrant isn't working with the N800. It works with other UPnP streaming devices.
