I announce the initial release of MeeFolders, an application that allows you to sort your applications into folders.

Features:

* Automatic creation of desktop files when applications are added to a folder.

* Automatic removal of desktop files when the folder becomes empty.

* Clicking on the folder desktop file launches the folder. The folder automatically closes when an application is launched.

* Applications can be added to multiple folders.

Some screenshots:

MeeFolders 0.0.5 is now available:

Changelog:

* Folders can now be edited.
* Application list now sorted in alphabetical order.
* Fixed single-instance problem when launching folders.

Debian package is available from http://ubuntuone.com/2VglViAp6OLmBWcooRHqM6

You can't hide the shortcuts from within MeeFolders yet. I will add that feature later. The problem is that it requires root access.

Awesome! Wasn't sure exactly how this was going to be done, but this seems to be almost the official way. Just the apps not disappearing when added to folders really being the only difference.

Wont matter much as long as you put the folders on top of the app screen.

Great work except the one main thing that I would use it for is Bookmarks, which it seems not to be able to add unfortunately.

Does this not replace stock app screen? If not, its no better than the other app made... Im really hoping that you will make it a replacement.

Edit: I see how it works now... A couple of suggestions though: once an app is added to a folder it should not show where it was before. Also once you go into a folder theres no quick way of going back. Plus, can we change folder names?
