ive just got the CSSU stable on my n900 and the rotation and portrait version work wells. And then one time ,i just restart the phone accidentally by removing the battery and when I turned it on,the rotation and portrait doesnt work already,what should i do,can you please help me up?

Go to x terminal and enter the command :

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/ui_can_rotate -t bool true

Search for Orientation lock applet you can then enable and disable this from the status area

my N900 running on cssu stable.. desktop setting not working.. hence not able to add widgets or change backgrounds....
i press,long press, but no response...
tried apt-get update...

If you mean the "cog" icon is missing you could have disabled the desktop menu.

In a terminal the gconftool is

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/menu_edit_disabled -t bool false
It's true to disable if you require.
