Hi,

I am trying to update my Nokia N810 Wimax using Nokia Internet Tablet Software Update Wizard and facing some issue. Current OS version is DIABLO_0.2008.14-9 and I am trying to upgrade it to DIABLO_0.2008.43.7.

The device is swithced to flash mode and wizard downloads the latest firmware, then I get a message that update failed with following message:

The software update file was transferred successfully, but the device was unable to complete the update. The software file may have corrupted or USB cable disconnected.

I am not able to figure out the problem, any help is appreciated.

If you have the option of using a non-Windows OS, you could try upgrading using the flasher, see http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware.

Alternatively, SSU (via the application manager) directly on the device might work, although ...

Current OS version is DIABLO_0.2008.14-9
... that doesn't look like a publicly-released version (and in fact the numbers suggest it was built the same week the device was first announced).

You may also try another usb cable and socket. I had a similar problem with my Wimax unit and switching cable was the fix.

Thanks Ima and heavyt for your suggestions, I finally succeded in flashing my Nokia N810 Wimax.

I tried switching cables but it didnt work for me. Later I tried SSU, but no updates were shown by device. As mentioned on the link I tried apt-get install osso-software-version-rx44 to fix it, but it didnt work, there were too many dependencies.

Then I tried apt-get install osso-software-version-rx44-unlocked for fixing it, too many packages were downloaded and device went out of memory. After restart I met with white screen of death.

Now it was inevitable for me to flash the device, then I found this link http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=24867 to rebuild the device. I followed the same steps from windows flasher and it worked for me.

Yes its a preproduction device, I got it from a friend who used to work at Nokia.

Ouch :-( For future reference: rx44 is the original N810, you want rx48.
