as far as the taking a long time to load is an issue with 770 due to ram and stuff.

Thanks - I might look into that then.
I hit the same problem late yesterday so am concerened it might be something I either (a) have to live with or (b) give up on and get a refund.
I'm loathed to get rid of it really especially at the price I paid and if a reflash every now and again sorts it I can probably live with that. I'm hardly liley to keep anything on it I really need and am probably going to end up using it for Maemo Mapper and web browsing on the move. I suspect e-mails will still be handled by my trusty steam driven Psion Revo !

I had the same problems. After several reflashes I stopped loading mapper and now I have no problems. I'm a newbie so I have no idea of the why it happens but that it seems related to mapper.
I’ve searched around the forum this morning but haven’t really found reference to similar problems I have had over recent days.
I’ve had my 770 about 2 weeks (From Expansys UK) – been OK for the most part, I took it away last week with Maemo Mapper installed and a GPS unit. All worked well for the first few days then I started to have problems – when trying to start an application, Mapper for example it would show the loading indicator for a while which would then stop but Mapper would not start. Any response to try and open or do anything else would either see a very slow response or at times just a complete freeze. The 770 would then, at times go into a loop of rebooting itself. It was rendered pretty much useless
I finally seemed able to get it to start OK yesterday morning before I left for home worked OK all day and I left it charging overnight (whilst on) and it was still OK this morning.
Similar problems occurred though when I turned it off to see if it would come back on not so long ago – first off the power button didn’t seem to respond, when it did it when I tried to start Mapper again it frooze and went into “auto reboot” mode, at one point it just showed the Nokia logo (the blue progress bar did not show). Anyway its back on again and seems OK for the moment but I’m sure I’ll have problems when I come to try and power off/on again.
Its not the WSOD but could the battery be at fault and or battery detection/charging ? Would a reflash of the o/s help do you think ?
I don't want to be without it really but unless I can sort it soon I think I'll have to return it
Anyway, sorry for the waffle but any help and suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Regards
FF.
