Are there any Apps for geocaching with the N800.
My need is not for GPS and maps but away to store cache info and make notes.

I don't know of any. You could simply save off cache web pages for reference (although viewing pages offline may require you to set up a fake wireless connection, since the browser always tries to go online). If you are using your Nokia tethered to a phone, then you can access cache pages directly, of course.

There are some general note-taking apps, like leafpad or Maemopad Plus (which has a tree-structure for its notes).

FBreader is a document viewer that can read Palm-format files, so it may be able to view the Geocaching.com automatic search files (which I think are .prc) although I haven't tested that.

Although you mention you don't need maps, Maemo mapper might be useful too. Even if you don't have a bluetooth GPS reciever, you can use it to download and browse aerial photo views, which might supplement your GPS map.

I use mine for geocaching and have tried a couple of different methods to get cache info onto my 770. One way is to run your pocket query with the "also send as ebook" checked. I simply upload this file into the unit and use FBReader to read it.

But the other way i've found to do it is the way i like better. Download your query into GSAk, then export it to html. Upload this file into the unit then simply open it, then find and click on index. The file then opens into the built in browser.

Maemo Mapper is certainly proving weapon of choice for updating open streets mapping and with the advent of Tools for open streets also on the horizon the N800 could be THE geolocation hardware. Now if the same could be done for geocaching and Mr Nokia were to improve screen to take account of increased sun strength due to global warming it would be game set and match....
(global warming due to greaters numbers mapping the streets for open streets )
