Hi,
I've posted this issue to nokia discussion forum but received no answer, so I'm trying here now so that is somebody had the same problem can answer me.

I had a Nokia N900 and now I have a Nokia N9.

I've successfully synced via Bluetooth my N900 with N9 (calendar, contacts).

Now I would like to sync my SMS (3000+) from N900 to N9 and I tried to do it via Nokia Suite (using Nokia Suite version 3.6.21 (beta) in Windows XP SP3) so I copied all my SMS from N900 to the PC.

Unfortunately when I try to drag SMS from the PC to the N9, I have this problem:

"Couldn't copy the message. There was a problem copying the message. Disconnect and reconnect the phone. If the problem persists, try restarting the phone and reconnect again".

I've tried also Nokia Suite official version (not beta) but the problem remains.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to move sent and received messages from N900 to N9? (copying system files from n900 to n9 via terminal, for example...)

Thanks in advance

Michele

I've searched the forum, found this wiki and this program.

Do you think this could be a solution?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

OK, I found time to try this out but I'm stuck at first step...
This README step 1 is:

Code:
1) Build a package via dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -I.git
How can I do that? On my N9 I don't have the debian packager and I don't know how to install it.
I tried to execute the command in ubuntu but it stops saying:

Code:
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: debhelper (>= 7.0.50~) libsqlite3-dev libcommhistory-dev aegis-builder
dpkg-buildpackage: warning: Build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting.
dpkg-buildpackage: warning: (Use -d flag to override.)
Does anyone know how to proceed?
Thanks in advance
Michele

It should compile if you have QtSDK installed or install them dependencies?

Have you tried the old and trusty PC Suite?

It *might* be possible to do this by backing up just the MSGs from the N900 and restoring to the N9.

Edit : And I just noticed that N9QT has this new option added to it recently:
* Tweak NN - renamed, added new option "Export/Import SMS" (see PDF instruction)

you might be able to use this.

N9QT has the option to import SMS previously exported with N9QT, so it is not useful in this case.

As far as PC suite is concerned, if you mean the new Nokia Suite, as you can read from my first post, it does not work (albeit it should be possible).

Thanks
