I'm having issues with the camera. I see on the "best picture you've taken" thread some amazing shots (relatively speaking, of course - nobody's expecting DSLR results from a phone), but my N900 could never approach that quality. The pictures I take with the back camera are washed-out, grainy and just plain ugly even when the flash is not used; when it is used the camera is barely good enough to take pics of things I want to remember (so I don't have to scribble them in the notes). Night-time pictures of people, in particular, are absolutely terrible - and yes, I know small lenses and LED "flashes" don't ever produce excellent results, but I see plenty from other phones that are at least somewhat passable. My N900 just takes pictures of zombies.

Do I have a bad camera?

Maybe sounds stupid, but happend to me a time ago: from one day to another i had the feeling, all pics are of really bad qualitiy... lasted 2 weeks until i realized, i had set it to night-mode and forgotten to set it back to automatic... maybe you got a wrong setting anywhere.

An also important: a clean lense

Hard to help without seeing example picture, took during day in good light conditions, and auto settings.

That stripes are very strange, indeed.

But stripes aren't about ISO - high ISO would result in "dust" (btw, lowest ISO at night isn't best idea, too).

Of course, for correct nighttime photos, tripod is a must - but still, those stripes looks rather like damage of camera module. Same results apply, if using fCam?

I wasn't talking about the stripes, they're odd. I just meant in general, that's what I tend to end up having to do to get "decent" pictures at night.

Stripes are always horisontal at level of some kind of light source on photo...look at modem's led indicators.

This is using night mode.

And this is using Fcam.

I dont know what to do...maybe try to find new camera lens.
