HELLO EVERYBODY!

i'm a new (i hope in a next future) power-user of this excellent smartphone. What should I do with a fresh flash firmware and emmc? What should I install first? CSSU and then power kernel? What about apps?

Can you link me a guide? Thanks in advance!

Here is the wiki on updating the firmware, aka. flashing: http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware Pick your PC system and the files you want to flash.

First install rootsh and backupmenu: rootsh will give you a working access to root's rights, while backupmenu has a couple of functions, like backup things or export all partitions to a PC, that is able to handle the file systems (mostly working in linux, but there are drivers for windows also).

You also might want to look into resizing the partition used for /home and /home/opt to increase the space to install applications: http://wiki.maemo.org/Repartitioning...ng_made_simple

Next go for the kernel-power install to use overclocking or additional modules.
Code:
sudo gainroot
apt-get update
apt-get install kernel-power kernel-power-modules kernel-power-flasher kernel-power-settings
Later get CSSU: Either CSSU-stable http://repository.maemo.org/communit...mantle.install or CSSU-testing http://repository.maemo.org/communit...mantle.install installed.

Edit: Stay away from the patches for battery and speed, those tend to break things sooner or later!

tnx for the usefull replies!

In order then I install:

Rootsh;
Kernel Power by x-terminal (with the command posted by michaaa62);
CSSU testing;

but blessn900 wont to install. I installed fcam drivers from x-term first and then blessn900 via f.a.m but nothing changed.

What is the correct procedure? Why when I re-flash the phone i found the firmware 20 and after cssu installation i found the last firmware?

I believe to use fcam drivers with power kernel, you need to use from extras-devel repository

Congratulations.

A warning: the N900 needs a lot of work in order to make it the best computerphone in the world.

Other flaws:
1. Badly soldered USB socket. Please read threads on this, it's only a matter of time before yours goes.
2. N900 only has 256MB. This means it's swapping to flash to do almost anything. Worse, after a while, the swap space becomes a mess and you have to reboot or do some clever trickery with an SD card.

Must haves:
1. CSSU Thumb. This essentially a community-written update of Maemo. Thumb refers to a memory reduced version produced by a resident genius.
2. Opera Mobile. Pretty much the only commercial app produced for Maemo in the last 2 years (ever?) and updated only a month ago. Flawed but amazing.
3. HDR Capture. Takes HDR pictures that are 3x better than what ordinary cameras can do in high contrast lighting.
4. ModRana. Nokia's mapping solution sucks. ModRana makes use of the N900s GPS.

There's pretty much an app for everything. Two of my favourites are SleepAnalyser and Evil Alarm.

One of the best things about the N900 is this community. I don't know if we'll ever have Sailfish on the N900 but if it's possible, this community will do it.

Certainly possible. I'm thinking more that Sailfish is likely to attract at least double the number of developers, thus allowing the N900 to keep up with evolving standards.
