I now have Python 2.7 along with pygames and pysolfc running. It sure would be nice to package these up and make them available in the usual way! But modern packages have grown enough to they really don't want to be stuffed onto the root flash of the old N810. I personally keep /usr/local on an SD card and install everything there, but /usr/local is a no-no for .deb packages, I believe.

So is there a standard way (even within the Maemo community) for installing to SD cards?

Thanks,
Andy
