I've tried installing some applications that come back and say
Missing library - liblzo1
or
Missing library - osso-thumbnails

Where can I get these libraries (what catalog needs to be installed)?

Try installing your packages while in "Red Pill" mode:

Also check out this list of additional repositories:

http://maemo.org/community/wiki/applicationrepositories/

Some particular apps require these to be added to the Application Manager in order to install properly. I've also found that many times if you go to the project homepage of the app you wish to install they sometimes will specify a particular repo that is needed.

That partially did it. Red Pill mode worked for installing the osso-thumbnails0 library, but I still can't find liblzo1. There's an liblzo2-dev, but even that won't install.

Where is liblzo1?

Oh, and thanks for the Red Pill suggestion.

Yes, but I believe I had to go to the GPE site, or maybe it was using Red Pill mode. I'm not sure, but I did get it to work. Sorry I can't be more helpful, my brain is a little fuzzy on this one.

After trying several repositories looking for the right library for LIBLZO1, I finally was able to fix the problem by re-installing the latest ITOS2006, you can get the latest image from the Nokia website:
http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_770.php
and follow the instruction to reflash either from root or using the Internet Table Software Update Wizard, I used the later and it was not too bad it did not took more than 10 minutes. You will have to install all apps again, this time no issue with GPE-Calendar or any other requiring this library.

I've just gone down this path too. Just setting "red pill" didn't do it for me. I saw the movie. I forget which color pill did what. The base problem is that the missing library is missing a dependency. Some might call that 'broken'. I picked it up by going to the Maemo Hackers, and installing the repository. Then, in the application manager, it's called liblzo-dev. It's described as a compression library.

The description:
data compression library (old version) (development files) LZO is a portable, lossless data compression library. This package contains the header files and static libraries for the LZO data compression library.

Now, compression is important on a small device. It's important to save space. There are good, free compression libraries out there. But it's also important that the community standardize on a small number of them, ideally, just one. But we have zlib, ozlib, bzip2, gzip, zip, etc. Feh.

By the way. On the 770 in the default browser (Opera), if you have a URL, and it's not a clickable link, i don't see how one could copy and paste it to load it. Many URLs are hard to type or remember, and these devices don't have the screen area to allow multiple concurrent screens. So it's more than just really handy to make links clickable in a forum like this.
