I'm starting a list of N900 that are known to be defective and might show up in ebay, sold as "100% working" - even multiple times.
(I think a tmo thread for now is excellent environment to do this, since no vandalism, and nicely attributed comments)

Great idea I am sure others have some noted they could share.
Is a TMO thread the best place or is a wiki or other page more appropriate?

Can I add my three dead N900s here?

One has a dead USB port, one doesn't do anything [power spike a-la BLT TTR's crashing computer in the clinic scene] and one has a few non working keys.

I think yes. Even a wiki would be easier to maintain.

Here is my device with a broken GSM modem (all telephony function disabled). Although it normally will never go to public (but who knows )

Just for the record, what is the point of it? Do you assume that anyone wanting to get rid of damaged device (via unfair way) will be as clueless as that guy on IRC, giving out IMEI/hash of it (directly, or via some picture)?

I'm asking, as I may be just missing the obvious point

when you receive a defective device, you usually send it back to seller...

I may have gotten it wrong but the way read Estel's post is, "Are the potential buyers supposed to check the IMEI of the phone they are considering buying against this list?" I agree with Estel that the usefulness of this list for that purpose is somewhat questionable, but there may be another use.

For what it's worth, here is mine. Same condition as peterleinchen's, same (lack of) intention of releasing it into circulation. I purchased it in a full knowledge of the fault.
