Finally ...'been waitin' farrr too long for this to happen.

Got a friend who's a prof. tatooist and piercer and is keen to help.
I'm thinkin as my birthday present to myself ...

It is patentedly a mad thing to do...but it is an inevitability and will seem like nothing compared to what will be coming in the future I'm sure.

As the company name implies...

No such thing as a stupid question....
from all that I have read and seen so far...yup...that is one of the points...why have it installed under your skin if you can't wirelessly access it ? If you have to remove it every time to put data into it.... it would defeat the purpose and be an inconvenience. Also encryption is also an important factor which they address...why put sensitive data on it if others can access it?

From the point of view of trying to be ahead of the curve ...so-to-speak...from a societal ...let alone tech view...Proper wetware interfacing will make life alot smoother for those with the bioware.

Frankly I see the inevitable that the critical issue really isn't about getting it done ...It's WHEN to get it done....

As in get it done now and you can do alot of cool stuff....

get it done in the immediate to near future and the amount of stuff they can cram into a capsule will be greater by then...

better...to get used to the tech is try it now and either get rid of it if it isn't your thing ...or keep it and consider future upgrades....upgrading constitutes removal of current implant and reinsertion of new upgraded capsule....

Well, it's a step in the direction of true biohacking, however these current things are just a nice packaging for RFID chips, my dog has had one of these in her neck for 8 years, and it does not make a cyborg out of a Staffie

What I am waiting for, however, before I get into it, is true reliably working neuromotoric interface. That'll be the thing you want...

I love Deus Ex, Neuromancer, GITS and so on, and I will be the first one to get a microRPi to the skull, but this seems to be just RFID tag together with scalpel and DiY surgeon manual :P

Sounds a bit too dystopian for my liking. I take all those sci-fi novels/movies as a warning. It seems others take them as inspiration.

Warning and inspiration, both in one, for me
(I love technology, and I think when people will trully understand it, there is nothing we should be afraid of - but nowadays, whole civilization is just using computers, without ANY knowledge how they work. <- that's what's scarying me thousand times more than any kind of EEG implantant :/)

Yup...any tech ever developed tends to be used quite blindly without understanding of short or long term ramifications...DDT...agent orange....the promise of unlimited energy...(aka the bomb) the unknown results of so many man-made chemical interactions (beyond count really) for the convenience of our corps and ourselves...cell, microwave, IR, wireless waves bombarding and passing through everything and everyone causing goodness knows what damage for the sake of convenience ...the pop. using and utilizing tech at EVERY level frightens me. Eventuality and inevitability soon catches up. As far as ominous sci-fi warnings go...hell ...we are well deep into it now...have been for a looonnng time...better such a fate...than this brave new world with bright and shining faces...txting, tweeting and selfie-ing it's way blindly to a consumeristic lemming-like cliff-running spoon-fed oblivion with absolutely no regard for those who need help...regardless of what species it is...under a warming sky on a planet with problems that should have been addressed...could be addressed...but still aren't...problems bred from convenience...nothing more.

Just a 100 yrs ago ...looking at today through the lens of the past.....Today...right now ...is very sci-fi dystopian .... It is all a matter of perspective .

My cat has an embedded RFID in her neck too. It's used to ID the cat at the vets but also we use it to give her access to the house via her RFID enabled catflap.

I was going to switch the locks at the office for NFC enabled locks but then Jolla used their NFC chip only for TOH id duty instead of external use so my enthusiasm dimmed and it doesn't look like Apple are ever going to do NFC which would limit access for some of our staff. Maybe I should just inject NFC chips into their necks when asleep.

Hah! A typical manager! From an employee's perspective - we had RFID-operated door locks at one of my former jobs. The tags were at first in the shape of key fobs, later replaced with credit-card style IDs with your name and photo. The idea was sound: they opened the door for you, registered your time of coming to and leaving work, and you could use them to pay for your lunch at the canteen. From the reliability point of view they were absolutely appalling. They were supposed to work from a comfortable distance, but most of the time they needed to be pressed hard against the sensor to work at all. On the third or fourth attempt, if it happened to be Tuesday after the full moon and you rubbed it against your shirt in just the right speed and direction. The key fob style worked marginally better but the management and the HR obviously insisted on using the card ID style. Future has some time to arrive properly.
