I don't currently use Google Talk or Jabber so the built in presence stuff isn't much use to me as i only use Msn but i was wondering if there is a way to replace the built in IM?
Failing that if it can be removed i could just run Pidgin but i would prefer it if it was integrated into the N800's structure.
I heard once that if you have an account on a Jabber server that supports msn as a plugin then i could use this, has anyone heard of this and got that working?

The jabber server option is doable though have not done it myself. You need a jabber account with a server that supports. I suggest reading through jabber.org for details.

I did go the Jabber route with gateways for the other IM services. It's great and integrated. It's even better when you install the RTComm beta because you get stuff that not even Pidgin does, such as showing status messages (why can't they get that right even after all this time?)

Of course, RTComm isn't perfectly stable yet... it's intended to go into the Chinook release.

Which Jabber server do you use that supports Msn?
And when you add a buddy that is on a gateway what form does the buddy name have? someone@msn-gateway.jabber.org or something like that?
And how did you tell the built in jabber that you want to connect to an msn gateway?

Use a jabber program on your PC to set it all up. Then use the N800 to connect. MSN accounts take the form of user%server.com@msn.jabberserver.com. If your MSN is test@hotmail.com, it becomes test%hotmail.com@msn.jabberserver.com.

I just installed the RTComm beta and have a slight issue with it.
The speed contacts list now has bigger icons than before so you cant fit as many on the list.
Anyway of having this show the small icons again so i can fit more people in?

Not that I can see, but the extra space is used for status messages.

Its a shame though dont allow it to scroll, that applies to all applets really, having an rss reader or speed contacts that cant display much info makes them pretty useless

Where exactly is it meant to show status messages, i dont see anything like that on my contacts.
And what about images next to the contact name?
Are the the images they add themselves or am i meant to add them from images stored on my N800 as nothing is visible there at the moment.
