ASMO Charger starts up automatically thanks to USB On-The-Go feature which is included in most modern smartphones. For instance iPhone 4 and onwards, Samsung Galaxy S2 and onwards etc.

However, if you have phone without that feature just press the button on the ASMO Charger to start charging. ASMO Charger shuts down automatically when battery is fully charged or phone is unplugged.

To note that 'shuts down' means that this charger disconnect itself from the mains (making it safer to use), while generally phone chargers just stop charging batteries but keep wasting electricity.
It's a smart idea that I hope gets adopted also by other quality chargers (and its inventor properly rewarded)

Yes, it would be great if that idea becomes standard.

Only if USB OTG becomes standard. Of the three phones that I have (N900, N9 and Jolla), only one has USB OTG and even that is a non-standard after-market solution and does not always work.

This idea looks good on the face and if I had some money to burn, I might even consider it, but I do not think it is really worth it. Plus the page is full of marketing BS and misleading half-truths, which does not bode well either.

Evolution of ASMO Charger this far.

In the left there is very first functional prototype of ASMO Charger. With this I proved that this innovation is working and I could continue to real R&D.

After several months of designing and planning we did make ASMO Charger little bit smaller. (Charger in the center)

And last week I did get almost final version in my hands. And it is charger in the right. But this is not final version yet Finished ASMO Charger will be more shinier and polished. Now we do test these chargers and after that ASMO Charger is ready for mass production. First ASMO Charger ever manufactured will be for you Indiegogo contributors!
