I managed to find an app that automatically checks for open android apps and if there is none open it kills them. Currently it checks every 30 minutes Does anyone know if it is possible to change the frequency of the checks (every 5 mins for example?)

What exactly a program you find ? autokilldalvik-0.1-5 ?

Yes, thats the one. Would it be possible to have a setting page to allow users to configure how often it checks to see if any android apps are running? (obviously play store and google settings will always be running if installed)

Haaa, it's my app that I created for personal use
Don't know how you get it and why you use it, it's not so good app...
If you still want to use it and change the checking time, just run this command as ROOT:
Code:
echo 5m > /usr/share/openrepos-autokilldalvik/time
Where 5m = 5 minutes

Or edit this file with any ROOT filemanager

Ah, its a good app!. You posted a link to it in the comments for another app in Warehouse. Thanks!. Would you consider publishing it in warehouse officially for other people to use?

And report here...
Remember, if you checked "run on background" for some android app, for example whatsapp, skype... This app will never kill dalvik, because it will always see this apps runs.
Or you can edit checking script and adding this app to "grep -v"...
