Welcome
I have been cutomizing my N900 and I came across some problem with editing applet menu.
disabling profiles chaging applet.
I would like to hide profiles changing applet. I can see that removing few lines from /etc/hildon-desktop/status-menu.plugins does not work but renaming or deleting /usr/share/applications/hildon-status-menu/status-area-applet-profiles.desktop works.
Unfortuantely, that solution has one side effect - there is no icon indicating enabling silent profile.
Is this possible to get rid off that applet but save the icon?

Those "few lines" from status-menu.plugins file:
Code:
[status-area-applet-profiles.desktop]
X-Desktop-File=/usr/share/applications/hildon-status-menu/status-area-applet-profiles.desktop
X-Status-Area-Position=6
X-Status-Menu-Position=4
I have tried also removing "X-Status-Menu-Position=4" line but it had no effect.

The applet provides both the menu widget and the status area icon, so there is no way to have the icon without the menu widget, unless you modify the source or write your own applet.
