That's gmail's fault.
I am told, (I don't use gmail myself), that even in the gmail web interface messages aren't marked as new, but just as unread.

The wrapping options are controlled from '/Configuration/Preferences/Compose/Wrapping'. Here you can turn on/off 'Auto wrapping', 'Wrap quotation', and 'Wrap pasted text', and also set 'Wrap messages...

BTW, you can use '/View/Go to/Next new message' and '/View/Go to/Previous new message', also see 'Set default selection when entering folder' options on the Display/Summaries page of the Preferences...

Like the LED generally, it only works when the screen has hibernated - maybe this is the reason for your questions? First, turn on the LED on...

Yeah, just copy the data to the new location.
Put the .claws-mail config dir in the correct place.
Use /File/Add mailbox/MH... to add your mail folder
