I don't believe it should ask for your password. However I'm not familiar with exactly how personal menu handles the "run as root" checkbox, so my answer is definitely not the be-all end-all :P

I use a mac and I've reflashed my N810 5 or 6 times without a problem using that software :) It's pretty easy to use and does the job nicely :)
