Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Sure, go right ahead. I'd prefer that you build ordinary kernels without full debug info though - kernels with full debug info should probably be called kernel-plus-debug.

The N950 config should...

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

That's how life was like for Motorola device owners with locked bootloaders pre-"security audit".

2ndboot was interesting, if only because it was a very fun hack. Once Android was rooted, as root...

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Some users on the NITDroid forums report that even though their phones were unlocked (through a shady unlocking service or officially through the carrier), it refuses to flash unsigned images and...

Re: Nominations for Council election Q2 2014

Thanks for the nomination (feeling really honored!), unfortunately I'm going to have to decline :(

I'll have more than my hands full for the foreseeable future in Uni, and I doubt my competency...

Re: ART to replace Dalvin, effects on Jolla?

ART could simply be ported to Jolla's Android layer, it's just a runtime and IIRC no APIs target it specifically.

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

I know this'll be a double post, but I just cant resist - I got a little too bored last night while hopped up on coffee.

It's a little teaser of what's to come.

Re: N9 and V-Moda Headphones

Yep, if you can get a nice, fat, well-shielded cable to reduce impedance losses (the N9's amplifier is pretty weak), that would be good. The adapter I described would work, but with some...

Re: N9 and V-Moda Headphones

The "Android" cable is probably wired for the (now) more common "Apple" (CTIA) headphone jack layout.

The N9 (and N900, this was a known issue even back then) use the OMTP layout....

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Well, rotation works, sorta. The problem is, there's some kind of bug that b0rks up rotation at 90 and 270 degrees (echo {1,3} > /sys...)

I suspect it's related to this...

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Just a little update, since I've been off TMO for quite a while:

I'm working on rebasing kernel-plus on top of the Mer N9/50 2.6.32 kernel and Mer toolchain, as the Harmattan SDK is officially...

Re: [Fremantle] Android inside chroot

This is exactly what you want to do. (http://pakesson.se/b/2011/05/paralleldroid/)

Some talking points:

There is already an Android kernel adaptation for N900
Fremantle uses GTK
You can...

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Re: [N9] Harmattan 2.0 theme project

I dunno about anyone else, but I think Harmattan's "fade into the OLED" aesthetic is pretty timeless.

Glacier is suposed a mild rework of Harmattan - moving out some half-baked ideas, and taking...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras

Did you install kernel-power-flasher? If you haven't yet, and can still come up to u-boot, you can put a kernel on a SD card and load it by hand using the u-boot terminal.

Re: Introducing ubiboot N9 (multiboot OS loader)

I've thought about this while on vacation :P
LVM and dm-crypt, accelerated by omap-aes would be quite nice to use!

You could set up an encrypted LUKS partition on the bare eMMC device, then...

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

It's the same Open Mode other kernels use.
The patched dpkg checks for file signatures when installing system packages - are you using you used export AEGIS_FIXED_ORIGIN="com.nokia.maemo"?

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Device-lock In Openmode for N9/N950 !!

Wow! That's pretty cool.

Does this still store the lockcode in CAL, or somewhere else?

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Remove everything related to Opptimizer you have installed. Reinstall kernel-plus.

Now, install kernel-plus, and on top of that, install coderus' Opptimizer UI. Modprobe opptimizer. Launch the UI,...

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

The opptimizer module wasn't loaded, and now the UI can't cat to the procfs device.

Try 'modprobe opptimizer'.

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Huh, never encountered this bug. Maybe because I'm on a 16GB N9 :P

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

1) It's the added CPU overhead of some stuff in Sailfish, and maybe some lacking power management stuff. It's bearable - definitely not as hot as running NITDroid.

2) Nope, only option's to...

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Oh man, that's living on the edge! I actually thought it'd go and flash_erase stuff.

Sounds more like it was preparing the in-memory mappings for MTD partitions for flashing.

IIRC, what it does...

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Re: Unbreakable cipher app

IIRC, hasn't it already been cryptanalyzed and broken?

Personally, what I'd define as secure enough would be messages encrypted end-to-end with each message rekeyed via Diffie-Hellman key...
