Re: How does Tablet GPS compare to Dedicated GPS unit? Good for hiking? Roads?

I've used various systems over the years, including a Radio Shack Digitraveler, a bluetooth adapter connected to a Garmin Legend, and an F-Tech bluetooth GPS, these connected via bluetooth to a Palm...

Re: Aluminum case interferring with N810 GPS

If you really need GPS, an external bluetooth unit is the way to go. You can put it wherever you like, and where it gets good reception. There are keychain models available that reportedly work...

Re: Aluminum case interferring with N810 GPS

Metal will definitely block GPS signals, as will water. But if you want protection, metal is superior to leather or plastic. You could remove the NIT from the case when you need to use the GPS, but...

Re: PIM Contest

The gold standard of PIMs is simple - Palm perfected PIMs years ago, and still has the best, by a wide margin. Nobody else has come close.

Re: When will the Sandisk 16gb micro sd card be released?

It's Kingston, not SanDisk, and not a micro, but here (http://www.buy.com/prod/kingston-16gb-secure-digital-high-capacity-sdhc-card-class-4-kingston/q/loc/101/206865168.html) is a good price for a...

Re: Palm Contacts, Memos & Apps fully Syncronised between PC & N800

Well, I don't know then. It worked for me, and most other people. I'm out of suggestions.

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.2 for OS2006/OS2007/OS2008

Get the area you want to download filling the screen, Menu, Maps, Manage Maps. Select the zoom levels you want, and the area defaults to the area you see. Select OK, and wait awhile.

Re: Cloning or repartition, repeatedly, will fix a dead SD card

gparted on a Linux PC should solve any problems, unless the card is completely dead.

As for Kingston cards, Kingston doesn't manufacture SD cards. They just buy them from Toshiba, Panasonic, or...

Re: Can we consider the N810 as a Palm TX replacement?

iSilo is a doc reader/converter. You're better off getting your books and reference material in text or html, rather than any Palm format, if you're going to use a Nokia. FBReader will handle many...

Re: I finally found you:shortcuts for repetitive typing!

I use it sometimes, not always. It's possible to get it pretty much like Graffiti2 on the Palm, and it's ok. I've been using a Palm for years, so I'm used to it, but I just don't do that much input...

Re: Palm Contacts, Memos & Apps fully Syncronised between PC & N800

I installed my calendar and contacts as installable files. You have to remember that the GVM uses the older datebook and address files, not the newer extended calendar and contact files from the TX....

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Erminig: Google-Calendar <-> GPE Calendar two-way synchronization

I don't know about the N810, but on the N800 there is a setting for auto capitalization. Control Panel, Text Input, check or uncheck Handwriting case correction. If it's checked, the first letter...

Re: Diablo Released - Say Goodbye to Firmware Flashing

Storing the satellites in view won't work. The GPS satellites are not in geosynchronous orbits, they're in lower polar orbits, and constantly move from north to south, with westward movement as the...

Re: The n800: Ultimate Computer for Air Travel

GPS receivers download an almanac from the satellites, in order to know what satellites to look for. If you turn your GPS off and move it a few thousand miles, it has no idea you did that, and will...

Re: open source gps software

Re: Is it Nokia, or FedEx's fault?

Re: EEE PC or Laptop

The card should work with no problem. The 2GB model may be a little limiting for storage, but it should be OK, I guess. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get programs to run from an SD...

Re: Freedom Keychain GPS

GPS receivers don't require much current. Computers require much, much more. Put a 5Ahr battery in a Nokia, and it will keep going for a long time. Those are big and expensive, though.

Re: Maemo Mapper and GPS/Google map issues...

Trying to download at any zoom level higher than 4 is a waste, IMO. That's more than enough detail for me. The Holux isn't the latest technology, and needs a clear view of the sky. In your car, it...
