Items being reset when changing "desktops" is the issue that can't be ironed out without modifications to the Hildon desktop.

Refresh the repos, and try again.
I had a typo in package control file which may be what prevents sliderotate from installing correctly.
If necessary, uninstall sliderotate first, then do the SSU...

I just upgraded the sliderotate to match the latest SSU. (seamless my ***)
The version numbering has also been changed to reflect the needed SSU version.
Therefore current version is 4.2008-36-5.28...

If you followed the method described in wiki, you don't have sliderotate installed.
You will have to install the kernel an xserver-xomap again as instructed in the wiki or
uninstall becomeroot...

If you have sliderotate installed, just rerun /root/install-xrandr-kernel.
If not, you will have to update kernel and xserver manually.

In version 0.0.22 there is the option to use sounds when opening the slide.
This is very poorly implemented and causes the high cpu usage.
I am now testing the next version, which hopefully solves...
