What one person classifies as a problem, another might not. Research for yourself and make your own mind up. I am personally very happy with my device, but YMMV.

1) Open an X terminal
2) Type the following: vi ~/.mplayer/config

It's Linux - I don't see why it would not be possible.

For example:

1) Turn on Bluetooth/Wifi from the normal menu
2) Open an X terminal as root
3) /sbin/ifconfig phonet0 down

What documents directory do you mean? Take this scenario and go from there.

1) Plug your N900 into your usb port and select mass storage.
2) You will get a "Nokia N900" drive. Copy your deb file...
