Re: And where is the people from Nokia who worked on Maemo and Meego?

You haven't met many Elop-types, have you? :)

Technically, the CEO answers to the Board only (and even then...). He may or may not coordinate with other CxOs, but he certainly doesn't need advice...

Re: And where is the people from Nokia who worked on Maemo and Meego?

Oh yes it can; they just have to forbid employees from disclosing it to third-parties or acting on it (i.e. selling shares/exercising options etc). In some periods (or even all year 'round, in some...

Smile Re: And where is the people from Nokia who worked on Maemo and Meego?

That's what I was thinking yesterday. If I had the money, I'd be raiding Nokia for Linux and Qt talent right about now. I bet the ones who recently relocated to California will have flocks of...

You give him a lot of credit. He's the one who sold Macromedia to Adobe; I rest my case.

Cool Re: And where is the people from Nokia who worked on Maemo and Meego?

Considering more than 1000+ employees in Finland walked out in disgust after hearing the news, I'm pretty sure the answer is "no". Same happened even with employees who were at the actual event!

Exclamation Found - how to determine proxy in use on N900

OK, maybe this is obvious, but considering how many apps out there still seem to ignore connection-specific proxy settings, I thought I'd dig a bit deeper into it and found a solution that developers...

Re: [Announce] CallBlocker 1.0 - block calls from specific numbers

The main difference is that this Vasily Zubarev seems to have repackaged the original script without saying anything to me or Vinu Thomas (the original authors), which is not very polite. The guy...

Re: [Announce] CallBlocker 1.0 - block calls from specific numbers

At the moment, it does not block withheld / unidentified calls. It's on the feature list for 1.1 :)
I also plan to add a feature to block all calls except ones from people already in addressbook,...

[Announce] CallBlocker 1.0 - block calls from specific numbers

With CallBlocker, you can have a "blacklist" of phone numbers that will be blocked. When people from those numbers try to call, they will always receive a "busy" tone (and/or redirect to voicemail,...

Red face Re: Renaming "Maemo 6" to MeeGo / Harmattan

I somewhat share the worry. However, it has to be said that Maemo and Moblin have come quite a long way already, the experience (and software) surely won't simply be discarded. Problems solved during...

Cool Re: Maemo + Moblin = MeeGo

Not really. It works pretty much in the same way as .deb, with YUM repositories doing the same job as APT repositories.

The main difference is that it's slightly easier to build a .rpm package...

Re: Maemo + Moblin = MeeGo

As somebody looking forward to publish Maemo apps on the Ovi Store (just got my launchpad approval), I'm completely gutted.

The roadmap has been thrown into chaos; we expected the next device to...
