Re: Unexpected cool features on n950

You're only jealous.

- And so am I!

It is interesting to hear these snippets of info, though; we may never get our hands on our own N950, but owning an N9 IS a real proposition and I for one...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

Thanks.

I have decided not to argue the point with those who believe that a falling share price is undeniable evidence of some conspiracy theory. As my Grandfather used to say: "you can't educate...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

You stole the words right out of my mouth.

Windows Phone will only come into its own from Mango onwards, and Apollo will be the first opportunity to see any significant contribution from Nokia.

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

The point I was making was that Nokia needed Microsoft a bit more than Microsoft needed Nokia. Prior to Feb 11th, WP7 was the bright young thing of Mobile, but Symbian was seen as the dinosaur stuck...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

It will not be the last Linux based phone from Nokia, here's one of the first hints:https://twitter.com/#%21/klasstrom/status/88305439988662272

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

That is a very good point.

All the stores I visit are largely ignorant of WP and Mango. many were quite enthusiastic about Nokia (which surprised me) but all stated that the demand was for the top...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

Yes - all the opinions of the experts concur; WP Metro UI is an attractive and engaging UI and Mango will deliver enough functionality for the masses. MS do appear to have got it right. Past...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

Are you surprised at MS's drop?

I'd imagine most of the sales of late relate to 6.5; Windows Phone 7 has been of very limited appeal because it is effectively crippled in so many areas, lacks the...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

Damn right he does!

You've made my point for me - thanks ;)

Just because I'm arguing Elop's line of tactics here it doesn't mean the outcome will suit me personally - far from it, in fact:

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

Did you really expect anything different to this? Of course credit rating will be downrated - do you think that came as a surprise to Elop? Do you think you've spotted something that he and the board...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

To be truly successful, Nokia would have to invest time and money to build a lone ecosystem for the N9 because, when nit comes to current smartphone trends, 'Apps is Where it's At'.

You, me, and...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

I don't think Nokia's Board agree with you, and they have access to more data and detail than we do.

Nor did they hire Elop as a patch to prop Nokia up in the short-term - they could've easily...

Re: Another proof Elop is a trojan horse

Well, that's your opinion, and I can respect that without having to agree with it.

Nokia needed radical and rapid change; many of us criticised them for failing to do this, that, or the other. We...

Re: Poll: N900 fans will you buy a N9 or N950 (if u could)?

I will buy an N9 - but it will replace my N8 rather than my N900.

The N9 looks amazing, innovative and fresh, but it is no N900 replacement.

Re: contacts cloned

I didn't mention "Merge your Duplicate contacts" because I found it actually caused more duplicates when used in conjunction with Google, MfE and Nuevasync, but it is a very useful tool on the N900....

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

My experience is to the contrary:

With CSSU, mild overclock to 850MHz and Swappolube I seem to be getting at least as good battery life - possibly better.

I do understand it is hard to be...

Re: Saw someone's underused and underappreciated N900 today

My recent experience is to the contrary: having re-flashed back to standard for a day with no apps, no swappolube, no overclock and no CSSU I found the device uninspiring, laggy and somewhat...

Re: With the E7-00 coming next month, is anyone jumping ship?

Show me a mobile OS that IS 'finished' at launch..!

Remember, Symbian will be Nokia's staple OS from featurephone to smartphone, so support should be there. They've also elected to drop the...

Re: With the E7-00 coming next month, is anyone jumping ship?

I was lucky enough to have a good play with an N8 at launch and have to say that Symbian has improved a lot.

People are hacking Symbian^3 now and the list of apps is growing daily. Many of the...
