1. does it take up resources? Not unless you are sshing in,and then it's neligable. It's not a gui so very light.

I cheated, I launched mahjong, then xterm, then ran;

ps ax | grep mahjong

That gave me the command line used to launch it. cp'd the line, killed mahjong and tried it.

Well for reason of "eh" a week ago I bit the bullet and installed bash as the system shell ( rm /bin/sh then ln -s /bin/bash /bin/sh) Works well, nothing broke, overall it feels solid reboots work...
