Re: Buy Android Phone
Maybe, but there are things to consider about how an Android phone would match up with the N900 too, right?
I've been thinking about this myself. I have an N900 (tmobile) and a Touch Pro (sprint.)...

Re: New Port: FreeCiv SDL
libsdl, zlib1g, freeciv-data, freeciv-server, and freeciv-client-sdl. Please let me know if any of these fixes it for you!
You are absolutely right, which is why I am not promoting it back into...

Re: New Port: FreeCiv SDL
Great advice -- I did it, and Freeciv should be back in devel now.
PR1.1 changed how SDL apps work, though... it turns out there's a minor graphical glitch in the in-program task switch button...

Re: New Port: FreeCiv SDL
It should be okay to install normally.
*That* problem is fixed, and I have no issues with it on my N900 yet, but it's still untested at large.

Re: New Port: FreeCiv SDL
A new version of Freeciv should be showing up in Extras-Testing soon. I've updated it upstream's 2.1.10, and last night made fullscreen default and added a task switch button to the upper left. (It...

Re: New Port: FreeCiv SDL
Theoretically, this might work...
sudo gainroot
apt-get -f install
... or if it doesn't...
sudo gainroot
cd /var/lib/dpkg/info
mv freeciv-*post* /tmp

Re: New Port: FreeCiv SDL
Freeciv is committed to Extras-Devel now and built successfully -- it should make it into the actual repository soon. Merry Christmas. :)

Re: Comix or Comic Book Viewer for Maemo 5 (N900)
Ah, you're right, Twaelti... sorry about that. Thank you, though, Ming387. :) I made a new version of libjpeg and comix on the garage page and in extras-devel that might work if you'd like to try.

Re: Clear Protector: My Results
I just need to add... I didn't wait 24 hours before using mine after putting the Clear Protector on; it looked like it was dry after around 3, and I was sad when I noticed how resistant the screen...

Re: N900 Case / Pouch / Screen Protector Thread
I'm liking the fit on my SF Bags case more and more. It's looser than their case for my TouchPro, but it makes getting the phone in and out easier. I applied a screen and back protector from "Clear...

Re: New Port: FreeCiv SDL
Yep, the Application Manager can't install .deb files anymore (I believe).
To install right now... you need to drop down to the terminal, get root privileges, and do "sudo dpkg -i freeciv*" -- in...

Re: External Battery Packs
I have a Tekkeon MP3450, and it has trouble charging the N900. Intofx's suggestion of unplugging and replugging will sometimes work -- it seems to depend on how fast I plug it back in and gravity,...

Re: Comix or Comic Book Viewer for Maemo 5 (N900)
cbrpage is in extras and quite nice, but I've also updated Comix for Maemo 5 (and updated it for 4.1 as well) to the latest of the 3x branch prior to the rewrite. I'll post it to the Garage site as...

I went with manually... duplicating all the work the utility does, I think. Symlinks, the works. :o Wooops. It made sense at the time, honest, although just having the desktop file look to /opt...

I'll be updating that shortly because, well... I ran out of rootfs space.

FreeCiv SDL for Fremantle

Good thought -- and very worrying! I tried the voice recorder app, though, and it worked swimmingly.
Now I am thinking it might be something to do with Nokia's SIP on Maemo and Gizmo and my local...

I use Tablet-encode, which has a way to pass more advanced command line options, but I am sure you can fix the subtitles problem by editing or creating mencoder.conf in the mplayer config...
