Re: Something is Coming - F(x)tec announces new device

Couldn't agree more. If it had official sailfish support i would order it without blinking an eye. But seeing the overall slow development of sailfish i'm starting to look for alternatives but there...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

Now we are back to the old argument about things that "can" happen.

I don't care about some mythical "cans". What good is a...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

Unless both of you have a Deadpool hands, that really shouldnt be an issue. Just try stretching your thumbs over any phone that is the same size as pro1. For me , it is better to stretch tumbs than...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

All these discussions about resistive vs capacitive are lovely and interesting (and I did like using my N900's screen back then), but it's all moot when it comes to the Pro1.

For it to succeed, it...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

I have got my coder friend interested of N900. Last weekend let him play with my device. I showed him the application manager and boasted how many apps there are and said just scroll. He tried to...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

It simply isn't true. The screens don't forbid it, the drivers / the operating systems do. Get someone to write a good driver that supports precision touching on capacitive screens, and it'll work...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

Who cares? What does it matter which part of the chain is responsible? The only thing that matters is the result. And the result is that you cannot use a "modern" touch screen for anything requiring...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

lets hope that we will have a new device in two years time rather then worry how much the price of this one will drop.
650€ is a lot of money but considering what this phone is how it came to be it,...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

Thank you Peter! I apologise first if my reply causes mis-understanding and confusion...

What I meant was not about Maemo Leste... That wasn't my intention at all. It was Dave's accusation to...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

I think it would be difficult for Fx Tec to make such a statement, particularly to make a commitment to supporting any operating system that they may not be familiar with. Supporting Maemo Leste...

We all know that Maemo Leste is not yet in a state to be used as daily driver but it is not that...

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

I'd love to go and try one of these out. I don't know many techies or mechanical engineers who could resist that lovely snappy hinge mechanism. So satisfying, even just in a video. Especially after...

Re: Are you Ready? Fx HW Keyboard Phone

It's correct. We have discovered some small issues with the current screen. We decided to change the supplier into a much bigger and reliable one one, and the process has already started. The est....

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

One thing I would say was a surprise was that the screen part was thinker than I thought. I figure it would be more like the n900 or n950, were as the screen part is more like 1/3 of the thickness....

Re: Are you Ready? Fx HW Keyboard Phone

Don’t really care for the older hw and size as long as the sw and apps work well with the QWERTY.
If I want speed or power I have other devices.

Looks cool.

I am a bit worried about changing...

Re: Are you Ready? Fx HW Keyboard Phone

A bit underwhelmed by the dimensions. Not going to lie... 14mm is nearly double some of the phones out right now, with no bigger battery to show for it.
And the processor is old and will be nearly 3...

OH NO!
And I have 'ordered' my Neo900 with WCDMA, 2G, 3G only!
What should I do now? Do you think I can still change my configuration so late?
