I bought my N900 because I was under the impression the closest thing out there to a real open-source phone. Not from any misguided GNU-style ideas about "Freedom", but from first-hand experience...

No changes to the UI =! no underlying changes to the core, I've noticed many fixes till now, one of which is pulseaudio not stuttering at all.

You could compare raw MeeGo to the open part of Android, lacking the Google apps and without permission to access the Android market.
Open MeeGo on the N900 won't be able to provide DRM, too.

Actually the response in Finland has been very positive. Two large newspaper reader surveys show 70%+ and 80%+ approval ratings for Nokia's decision.
He allready confrimed relocating his base...
