Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

Not "warning US" but "warning ME" - and no, the only misleading thing here is your rant and your link to Linx, a manufacturer of (unapproved!) RF-modules who doesn't offer *any* phone module. I gave...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

It's not the matter of "smaller modems". There are GSM chips, which you can use to build your modem (and get calibration, certification and all related stuff by yourself), and there are complete GSM...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

IMO it shouldn't be worse than in stock N900.

Hey, we'll also be the users of Neo900, we also care about such stuff cause it's going to impact us as well! :)

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

It's very easy to add those millimeters between main part with the keyboard and the screen part. The rails which allow keyboard to be slided out just need to be placed on some thingie to add that...

Re: Will you buy the Jolla phone?

No it does not. What he actually is saying is that Linux kernel support OTG and maybe also the SoC but that does NOT mean the HW is fully enabled for it.

Remember N900 and N9 it also has a SoC who...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

I disagree. The current situation for mobile developers from Maemo/MeeGo/Nemo Mobile to Sailfish pathway is IMHO :

1) softwares in C/C++/Qt 4.7-4.8 (Qt Quick 1) : about 80-90% of MeeGo Harmattan...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

Then i cant help but say "each to their own", still you have a point there. I do wish luck to jolla though, and i am curious to what lies ahead especially about wayland and qt5, in future i may even...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

Unreasonable? Dude you sound like "we have to support jolla at any cost"... commercial firm + their decisions + their additional work = their problem, if not sailfish why not tizen... what happened...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

Canonical has said that Ubuntu Touch 13.10 will have Mir, but not XMir, which will be available only for PC's. But there is an interview last month citing that Ubuntu Touch and Ubuntu for PC's will...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

I'm finding it very difficult to agree with that stance, mainly because Jolla released their SDK and the purpose of that SDK was to enable developers to start developing in an environment that would...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

Some words of wisdom from the past:

How things change :) Like I said, I'm no dev so the change doesn't affect me but the above quote seems apt for all those who keep saying the change is minor...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

I love this line of thinking; if a commercial company who plan to sell you a device for $$$ don't give you the basic tool-set to develop for their platform, go port it yourself for free.

iOS/WP...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

The whole issue that fmg has been alluding too is not about being good/bad adopters; its simply being led to believe initially that Qt4.8 and X11 was what would be in the first device but now with a...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

Oh, I am not complaining. I am talking about the behavior here - one has something that is working fine (or almost), but he throws it through the window because of some blurry reasoning. Instead of...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

Why I think I've already seen the same back in 2010-2011?

Scratch GTK in favor of Qt. Scratch Maemo, rush for Meego. Debian packaging is working fine? So what, go for rpm.

Toldya, no way to...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

A bit of rationale about why we've decided to go with new Nemo UI and seperate components:

UI is not something that can be done via commitee, well, it can, but the result will not be good. The...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

If they reaffirm/commit_to Sailfish being 100% based on MeR/Nemo in all but the uppermost layers*, & clearly define that linkage, then it's not a big deal.
But if they continue to remain vague on...

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

But not ubuntu phone. Thats a lonely island with its MIR solution.
How should that be better than wayland, which everyone else supports as x11 replacement?

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

It looks worse with their whole Mir move. I really hope Sailfish will open up. It's by far the best option otherwise especially since they are going to use Wayland from the start.

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

OK, Stskeeps said that so far it's closed (UI and core applications) but what's going to be in the future isn't known. I take it, that with the release the stuff will be closed, which is sad. So...
