Your n800 is running an old version of OS2008 (Chinook) that didn't have the SSU feature which is why you're not seeing any updates.

Try changing around the streaming rate, I think 200kbps works good if I recall correctly. You could also download Tversity (http://tversity.com/home), which is an excellent media server.

the root of your memory card is the top most directory for the mmc card. on your 770 you would extract it to the Removable Memory card in File Manager, or /media/mmc1/ from the command line.
