I think the option to stop the Internet Talk app opening when you open the camera is in the app's options dialog.

It's definitely somewhere around there anyway, as I've turned that particular...

Why not re-flashing with the charger in ?
I usually do these steps in the following order:

1) power off the tablet
2) connect it via USB to the PC
3) run the flash command (I use linux command...

You can use the menu key to go to another application. Though Canola uses resources when it's in use so..
