Basically, you need an NFS server or a samba server running in your N800.
Of course, you need to make sure that your external drive is detected by the device when connected with a special usb...

RECYCLER is the Recycle Bin folder. I'm guessing your card reader shows cards as hard disks. Go to the recycle bin properties and turn it off for your drive representing the card.

It made sense some time ago, when n8x0s were something new and not everybody knew about the omap2 resolution limit...

yes, there are costs, but there are costs in NOT doing this, and although these are somewhat intangible they should not be underestimated: they include customer confidence & goodwill. Ask Nvidia why...
