first of all: i'm from germany. i don't know the exact nomenclatures for the english firmware. sorry. ^^

if you restored the backup and everything else showed up fine just go to the app-manager...

That's because you didn't update using Application manager - you used NSU or flasher.

If nothing goes wrong and you update via application manager, all your apps will remain unchanged. This is assuming there are no conflicts with your apps and the new firmware.

Sigh. Don't point a self-admitted newbie to Maemo to red pill mode. It's not supported, it's not even going to be around soon. It's worse than using the command line and individual debs.
